- Democratic, Libertarian, and Republican candidates may file during the primary election filing period. Other candidates may file during the General Election filing period in July and August.
Federal and State Candidates
- Filing period February 26 - March 15, 5:00 pm. File with Secretary of State.
- U.S. Representative, 1st Congressional District. 1,726 signatures, including at least 47 signatures from each of ½ of the counties in the Congressional district.
- State Senator, District 46. 100 signatures from district.
- State Representative, Districts 85, 86, 89, 90, 91, 92. 50 signatures from district.

- Date of election is the Primary Election date (6/4/2024).

- Information for Voters
- In a Primary Election, voters choose the November general election nominees of the three full-status parties - Democratic, Libertarian and Republican. Each party has its own ballot listing only candidates from that party. In order to vote in the primary election, voters must declare a party affiliation. Voters can change affiliation at the time they vote or request a mailed ballot.
Dates and Deadlines
- Tuesday, March 26, 2024: First day to request mailed absentee ballot, 70 days before election.
- Wednesday, May 15: First day for early voting at Auditor's Office. First day ballots can be mailed.
- Monday, May 20: 5:00 pm pre-registration deadline (Election Day registration still available after this date). 5:00 pm deadline to request mailed ballot (in person early voting still available after this date)
- Monday, May 27: Memorial Day, Auditor's Office closed.
- Saturday, June 1: Auditor's Office required by law to be open for early voting. Other early voting hours will be announced later.
- Monday, June 3: Last day for in-person early voting.
- Tuesday, June 4: Election Day. Polls open 7:00 am - 8:00 pm. Mailed absentee ballots must be returned by 8:00 pm.
