Older Iowans Legislature (OIL)

The Older Iowans Legislature (OIL) was formed in 1978 to keep Iowan's seniors informed about legislation and how to process their legislative needs. Organization of the group was instigated by the Department of Elder Affairs (now the Dept. on Aging) and the Area Agencies on Aging (AAA's). The Older Iowans Legislature was officially authorized by the State Legislature. Until 2004, the Older Iowans Legislature was financially supported by the Department of Elder Affairs. Due to financial constraints, these ties were severed.
